Jeremiah has been in Colorado’s cannabis industry since its birth, and is a seasoned expert in CO2 extraction. His years of experience have helped optimize our extraction department, and his unmatched work ethic sets the standard for everyone around him. A laid back and easy-going guy, Jeremiah is sure to bring a smile to your face every time you see him.
Jeremiah was born in Kansas, but when he was 11 years old, his family moved to the mountains west of Trinidad Colorado. His family lived off the grid for a couple of years, burning wood for heat and using generators for power. They had no T.V. and only one radio, so the mountains were Jeremiah’s playground. Every day he would go out hiking, building tree forts, catching lizards or looking for arrowheads and fossils. Jeremiah fondly recalls those memories as some of the best times of his life.
He graduated from Aguilar High School with a class of 11 kids, and holds an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology from Trinidad State Jr College. Jeremiah’s resume contains a variety of jobs before cannabis. He worked at a livestock feed store making feed for farm animals, did residential, commercial and Victorian decoration painting with his dad, and worked as a dairy manager at Safeway in Boulder. While working at Safeway, a friend called and asked him if would be interested in a harvester job at The Farm dispensary in Boulder. Jeremiah responded with an excited yes, and started his career in the cannabis industry trimming marijuana and harvesting plants.
Extracting the most from life
After a few months of being at the farm, Jeremiah was asked if he would be interested in being an extraction assistant, and because of his mechanical background, he said yes and jumped in the extraction room to start learning how to make hash oil. After only a couple weeks of training on one of the only CO2 machines in Colorado, the guy that was training him quit. Jeremiah took over all of the CO2 extractions for The Farm. At the time there was not much information on operating a CO2 machine to extract cannabis, so it was a lot of trial and error on his part to figure out the best method.
“Well after I parted ways with The Farm, I took some time to gather my thoughts and figure out what my next move was going to be in life” Jeremiah recalls. “I ended up working at a liquor store for a few months. I thought to myself ‘how did I go from being a top extraction technician to working at a liquor store?’ Something needed to change I needed to get back to doing what I love to do.”
Luckily Jeremiah still had a phone number from a past business associate, Craig Henderson.
“I started putting my resume out there, and one day decided to give Craig a call. I knew Craig when he worked at Apeks Supercritical because I was running one of their machines at the time and he was who I went through to get all my machine parts. I knew he had started a CBD company and I contacted him just to see if he was hiring extraction technicians or if he knew anybody that was hiring. He said swing by and check out the lab. I came in to check out the lab and look at the CO2 machine, and I have been here ever since.”Jeremiah Bowyer, Lead CO2 Extraction Technician Click To Tweet
