Do you know that one coworker who just shows up and grinds? The person who is never the last one in the door or the first one out of it? The one you can find with a smile on their face, no matter how hard the day is? For us, that is Assistant Formulations Manager Sid Marshall. She lends her hard work ethic and passion for perfection to our Formulations Laboratory, helping to keep products rolling out at a consistent pace.
Originally from Texas, Sid moved to the Centennial State when she was only five years old. She attended Hidden Lake High School before dropping out in 2010. After receiving her GED in 2012, Sid briefly studied business management in college before deciding it wasn’t the path for her.
Most of Sid’s career has been made up of customer service jobs, namely fast food. She attributes much of her work ethic to past jobs.
It was not my dream but it did pay the bills for a long time and gave me a lot of skills that I am able to use in my current career. The biggest being time management, it is called fast food for a reason.
One evening, Sid was picking her kids up from daycare and ran into Ramona. The two of them struck up a conversation about the hemp industry. The thought of a career in cannabis was an extremely interesting thought, especially given her experience with the THC side of things.
I’ve always supported the use of THC for a variety of reasons. I saw how beneficial it could be to so many people and so many illnesses. I watched the cannabis industry bloom in Colorado and then when the hemp side of it came around it was a game-changer for my family personally. The benefits of cannabis with minimal and now even just about 0%THC? AMAZING! So when the opportunity came to work in the industry that helped so many people, I was ecstatic for the new experience.
Q&A With Sid
Q: What is your favorite Extract Labs product?
A: Face cream. Though I use it on my hands
Q: Name a book that had a major impact on you.
A: I know it’s a common answer but “the diary of a young girl” really had an impact on me. I think every one should read it and put themselves in the shoes of Anne Frank.
Q: What’s the best thing you’ve ever watched on Netflix?
A: That’s a tough one, recently I watched “the social dilemma” which was pretty good, but they have Big Daddy on Netflix right now which is just absolutely a classic
Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to start working in the hemp industry?
A: Keep trying. Passion will get you where you want to be.
