CBD dabs (or products like CBD crumble or CBD shatter) are highly potent concentrates infused with cannabis terpenes. Dabbing CBD is simply a different form of cannabidiol that is typically vaped with a dab rig or nectar collector and often called CBD wax.Ā

Unlike traditional oral methods, like CBD oil or capsules, dabbing offers rapid onset and high bioavailability due to its direct inhalation into the lungs.

Studies show vaporizing and dabbing concentrates is the best rate for the body to absorb CBD.

CBD isolate is a pure form of CBD, containing only cannabidiol without any other compounds. It can be considered more user-friendly for dabbing, as it's free of terpenes and other cannabinoids, providing a mild and customizable experience. Users looking for precise dosing often prefer CBD isolate for its simplicity.

Dabbing CBD crumbles requires a dab rig, which consists of a water pipe, a heating element (often a nail or banger), and a torch. To dab, heat the nail, place a small amount of CBD crumble on it, and inhale the vapor. It's crucial to use a high-quality, clean dab rig to ensure the best experience.

Dabbing CBD, including CBD crumbles, carries some potential risks, such as inhaling high temperatures and impurities if not done properly. Ensuring you use clean equipment and follow safety guidelines can minimize these risks. It's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any CBD regimen.

Commonly called CBD dabs, products like shatter and crumble are highly potent concentrates infused with cannabis terpenes. People usually smoke dabs via dab rigs, vape pens, or nectar collectors.

But what is dabbing CBD and how does it differ from other forms of CBD? Weā€™re here to help you learn more about dabbing CBD and how to use CBD wax ā€” itā€™s easier than you might think.

Read on for our guide to dabbing CBD isolate.

    What is Dabbing CBD?

Dabbing CBD is simply a different form of cannabidiol that is typically vaped. Itā€™s often called CBD wax, which is the umbrella term for potent cannabidiol concentrates that weā€™ll break down in more detail soon. Since CBD wax is usually vaped with a dab rig, itā€™s also commonly referred to as CBD dabs.

    Is CBD Crumble Good?

Like with any cannabis product, deciding if something is ā€œgoodā€ or not is entirely up to personal preference. When dabbing CBD, youā€™ll likely feel the effects of the cannabidiol faster and more intensely. For this reason, CBD dab oil is often preferred among experienced CBD users, while beginners may prefer to stick with oils and edibles at first.

However, you can still expect a relaxing effect from CBD wax and you may also experience a slight body high when dabbing CBD. Depending on the concentration you choose (and the cannabis terpenes in it), you may also experience different effects like improved focus or relief for discomforts.

    The Benefits of CBD Dabs

    Why Ingest CBD by Dabbing?

Studies show vaporizing concentrates is the most bioavailable way to consume CBD. Bioavailability is the degree and rate the body absorbs an active ingredient. By dabbing CBD, the body utilizes 30 to 40 percent of the cannabinoids in the dab because it is 30 to 40 percent bioavailable. Oils and edibles only range from 6 to 20 percent.

By vaping, CBD travels directly to the bloodstream through the lungs. High bioavailability plus the potency of concentrates usually results in a fast-acting onset, and it’s why dabs often elicit a strong response compared to more mild CBD consumption methods. However, these effects may not last as long as other methods, like edibles.

Dabbing CBD also offers people the ability to refine and experiment with cannabis terpenes, which change the outcome of the dab and the user experience. The aromatic and flavorful terpenes engage our senses of taste and smell in variable ways, controlling effects. For example, some terpenes encourage focused alertness while others are conducive to relaxation.

    Types of CBD Concentrates

There is a variety of dabbing CBD concentrates to choose from. Which concentrate you choose ultimately depends on the experience you desire, especially when it comes to terpenes and how to use the CBD dab.

Hereā€™s what you can expect from different dabbing CBD concentrates:

    CBD Wax (Shatter)

Wax comes from pure CBD isolate, the most refined version of cannabidiol, and is THC free. CBD wax is a fragile concentrate that breaks apart by even the most delicate touch. CBD waxĀ is used in the same way as CBD crumble ā€” vaporized, smoked, or dabbed. You can sprinkle CBD shatter on a bowl to complement other smokables or use it on its own.

    CBD Crumble

CBD crumble is made from broad-spectrum distillate, concentrated oil around 80 percent or more CBD. It has a golden brown color and breaks apart (crumbles) like a cookie. Unlike shatter, crumble includes other cannabinoids. Experienced CBD users may prefer CBD concentrates like this because of their potency.

(You can read more about these two concentrates on our CBD Shatter and Crumble guide.)

    CBD Sauce

CBD sauce is liquid, unlike crumble and shatter. It consists of cannabinoid distillates and cannabis terpenes to create flavors and effects similar to well-known cannabis strains. Unlike shatter and crumble, which come in a jar, sauce usually comes in a 1-milliliter syringe.

    How to Dab CBD

There are a few different CBD dab methods, from old school glass to modern to CBD vape e-devices. Each approach yields similar results but requires different tools. Whether itā€™s your first time dabbing CBD or you need a refresh, weā€™re here to walk you through how to use CBD dabs.

Requirements: Glass rig, dab nail, carb cap, butane torch, and dabber. You can find most of what you need for dabbing CBD at your local smoke shop or online.

How to Dab CBD: This technique is best for experienced cannabis users. The initial setup requires some upfront investment to get rolling. But if you already have a water pipe that you use for flower, you can purchase a nail that will sit in place of the bowl. CBD dabs offer an alternative for people who enjoy the ritual of smoking but may be looking to reduce their THC intake. Dabbing CBD can still help calm your mind and body but without the psychoactive effects of THC.

    Directions:

    • Turn on your torch and aim the flame directly at the nail. Heat the nail for about 30-40 seconds. Please consult your manual when using an electronic nail.
    • Once the nail heats up, turn off your torch. Let titanium nails cool for about 10 seconds, and quartz nails cool for about 45 seconds. Cooling ensures the surface temperature isn’t too hot to burn your concentrates.
    • Take your dabber, apply the wax directly on the hot nail, cover nail with a carb cap and inhale slowly. Rotating the dabber tip on the nail prevents wasting any oil stuck to the tool.

Requirements: Wax or vape pen rated for concentrate use. How to dab CBD using a vape pen is a more beginner-friendly method.

Description: This is the best method for people who enjoy vaping without a cumbersome dab rig because pocket-size e-devices travel well. Wax pens also serve as training wheels for vaping newbies. They are easy to use, so the most inexperienced consumer can vape CBD comfortably without spending too much on an elaborate rig. (Note: Only use with a concentrate-rated device, not an e-cig for regular vape juice.)

Directions: E-devices are usually straightforward to use. Some are draw-activated, while others incorporate an operational button. Most e-devices are rechargeable and come with a USB cord. Consult your user manual for more specific information.

    Other Uses for CBD

While all of our concentrates are already activated (they are safe to ingest and they’ll work), crumble, shatter and sauce are best vaporized, smoked, or dabbed. However, other options are available.

Infusing a dish with CBD concentrates is a resourceful way to utilize aging dabs. Keep in mind, CBD is not water-soluble. Evenly disperse the concentrate by adding it to warm oil or fat. For this reason, adding concentrates to a dish’s sauce is the easiest way to equally distribute CBD.

You can use concentrates in DIY tinctures as well. One gram of our shatter or crumble blended with 30 milliliters of carrier oil will make a terpene-infused tincture.
