Festive Fusion: Mulled Wine Cake and Spiced Cranberry CBD Fizz

    The holiday season brings an array of flavors that warm the soul. It’s a time when our kitchens come alive with the aromas of spices and the essence of celebration. Amidst this festive symphony, there’s a pairing that beckons both indulgence and harmony: Mulled Wine Cake accompanied by a Spiced Cranberry CBD Fizz. These two delights converge to create an experience that transcends the ordinary, infusing gatherings with the essence of warmth, richness, and a touch of relaxation!

    Savor The Season's Essence: Mulled Wine Cake Recipe

    Mulled Wine:

    • 1 ¼ cups red wine
    • 4 whole star anise pods
    • 8 whole cloves
    • 6 allspice berries
    • 2 tablespoons brandy
     

    Cake Batter:

    • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 tablespoons cocoa
    • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
    • 1 ½ teaspoons ground ginger
    • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
    • ½ cup light brown sugar
    • ½ cup white sugar
    • 2 tablespoons orange zest
    • ½ cup vegetable oil
    • 2 large eggs, beaten
    • 2/3 cup hot mulled wine
     

    Icing:

     

    Mulled Wine Syrup (optional):

    • 1 cup mulled wine
    • 1 cup white sugar
     

    Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and generously oil a 10-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment.
    2. Combine red wine, star anise, cloves, allspice berries, and brandy in a saucepan, and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to low; simmer gently for 15 minutes. *Reserve 2/3 cup hot mulled wine for the cake batter, and set aside the remaining mulled wine to cool completely. If you plan to make the optional wine syrup, begin by making a double recipe of mulled wine, so that you will have enough to make the wine syrup later.
    3. Whisk together flour, cocoa, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cayenne, brown sugar, and white sugar in a bowl. Add zest, oil, and eggs. Use a fork or whisk to stir together until the flour disappears.
      Whisk in reserved ⅔ cup hot mulled wine until a smooth, shiny batter forms; transfer into the prepared cake pan. Tap on the counter a few times to release air bubbles.
    4. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, but begin checking for doneness at 25 minutes. A toothpick inserted near the center should come out virtually clean.
    5. Cool the cake in the pan on a wire rack for 20 minutes, then turn the cake out of the pan and remove the parchment. Let completely cool.
    6. Whisk confectioner’s sugar with 3 to 4 tablespoons of cooled mulled wine and your CBD together in a small bowl until you have a smooth, pourable icing. If the icing is too thin, add a little more confectioner’s sugar; if too thick, add a little more wine.
    7. Drizzle icing over the cake using the whisk, waving it back and forth and letting the icing fall onto the cake in any pattern you want.
    8. For the optional wine syrup, bring 1 cup mulled wine and 1 cup white sugar to a boil and cook for 1 minute. Cool completely and chill before using.

    Add A Touch of Sparkle to Your Festivities: CBD Cranberry Fizz

    Ingredients:

    • 1 cup cranberry juice
    • 1/2 cup sparkling water
    • 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1-2ml Organic CBD Oil
    • Fresh cranberries and rosemary sprigs for garnish
    • Ice cubes
     

    Instructions:

    1. In a small saucepan, combine the cranberry juice, honey or agave syrup, cinnamon, and ginger.
    2. Warm the mixture over low heat, stirring occasionally until the sweetener is dissolved and the spices infuse into the juice. Let cool.
    3. Fill a glass with ice cubes
    4. Pour the spiced cranberry syrup into the glass, filling it halfway
    5. Add the desired dosage of lab-tested CBD oil and stir well to combine
    6. Top up the glass with sparkling water and gently stir again
    7. Garnish your CBD mocktail with a few fresh cranberries on a cocktail pick and a sprig of rosemary for an aromatic touch
