Consumers are becoming crafitier than ever, and many are choosing to experiment with CBD topicals at home. We often get asked about the best product to use as an ingredient for an at-home formulation, and we always recommend our CBD Isolate. Isolate is pure CBD in crystalline powder form, and is super simple to work into a topical recipe you already enjoy!
This recipe is a simple way to make a DIY CBD body butter in your kitchen, no special tools needed! The combination of magnesium oil, CBD oil and clary sage or lavender essential oil can make this your silver bullet in the fight against pain. This body butter can help ease any kind of muscle ache, but especially for period cramps — when they hit, simply rub this body butter into the lower abdomen!
CBD Body Butter
100 g/½ cup coconut oil
100 g/½ cup raw cocoa butter, roughly chopped
3 tablespoons magnesium oil
2–3 teaspoons CBD Isolate
15 drops clary sage or lavender essential oil
Makes about 235 g/ generous 1 cup
In a small saucepan over a low heat, melt the coconut oil and cocoa butter. Once liquid, add CBD isolate and stir until dissolved. Remove from the heat and stir in the magnesium oil and clary sage or lavender essential oil. Transfer to a bowl and let the mixture cool and firm back up to the texture of butter (it may need refrigerating for 15–20 minutes if your home is warm).
Using a hand-held mixer or electric whisk, whip the mixture for about 1–2 minutes until you have a fluffy body butter. Transfer to an airtight container.
Kept in a cool place out of direct sunlight, the body butter should keep for 2–3 months in the airtight container.
