CBGa is a foundational compound of hemp. This means that many cannabinoids you are familiar with actually start off as CBGa before converting as the plant matures. Extract Labs proudly offers the first-ever consumer-level CBGa product.CBGa vs. CBG
Hemp plants contain unique cannabinoids during different stages of growth. This includes cannabigerol (CBG). CBG is a non-psychoactive naturally occurring hemp compound that transforms into CBD and THC during the growth process. Then there’s cannabigerolic acid (CBGA). CBGa is widely considered to be the “mother of all phytocannabinoids.” That’s because it’s a precursor to every other cannabinoid, including THC, CBC, and CBD. CBGa can convert into any of these cannabinoids depending on which plant enzymes are activated during synthesis.Potential Health Benefits of CBGa
CBGa isolate is the rawest form of any phytocannabinoid. It offers many of the same benefits as CBG and CBD along with some unique advantages for the immune system. Most recently, the acidic form of CBGa has been studied with how they interact with Covid-19. Research found that cannabigerolic acid and cannabidiolic acid can bind to the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2. This action can stop the virus that causes Covid-19 from entering cells and causing infection. While it can’t definitely prevent any disease, this finding does provide a potential new avenue for stopping the spread of the virus. While there’s still a lot of research to be done, some additional potential benefits of CBGa include:- Helping with comorbidities and complications that lead to oxidative stress (i.e. diabetes)
- Regulating the metabolism by reducing excess lipid accumulation. This could be beneficial for treating metabolic disorders.
- Maintaining healthy cellular activity
