From Passion for Natural Medicine to Quality Management
“Natural medicine has always been my passion and cannabis is an amazing plant” expressed Alex, reflecting on her journey to Extract Labs, where she has been an integral part of the team for the past two years. Beginning as a research chemist for a duration of five months, she then transitioned to the role of a microbiologist, dedicating one year and one month to the field. Eventually, her expertise led her to assume the position of Quality Manager, where she has thrived for four and a half months.
The Evolution of Alex's Role at Extract Labs
“The opportunity to contribute to the healing potential of plant medicine has been an incredible journey,” expressed Alex, as she reflected on her transformative role at Extract Labs. Initially joining as a Research Chemist, she quickly mastered the intricacies of distillation, a science that captivated her. With her expertise recognized, Alex was then invited to be a part of Minova Labs, where she played a pivotal role in establishing the hemp testing laboratory from the ground up. Taking on the responsibilities of a Microbiologist, she developed robust methods for microbial testing, propelling the lab to achieve recognition and accreditation.
In a notable collaboration, Alex worked alongside Medicinal Genomics on an application note titled “Detection of Salmonella and Shiga-toxin producing E.coli (STEC) in Beverage and Topical Matrices using the PathoSEEK Salmonella and STEC qPCR Detection Assay.” This endeavor involved validating PCR assay kits for detecting these harmful pathogens in diverse matrices, including beverages and topical products. The project showcased Alex’s expertise and commitment to ensuring product safety and quality.

What’s your favorite Extract Labs product and why?
The muscle cream is my favorite. It works wonders on sore muscles and is made with simple, yet
effective, ingredients.
What is a fun fact about you?
I am a big fan of fermentation. I brew my own kombucha and have recently been experimenting with
making chickpea tempeh. I also really enjoy mushroom hunting.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Interdimensional travel/time travel. I would love to be able to transcend the limits of our physical reality
to explore and learn at a whim, with infinite possible experiences.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Would love to completely immerse myself in the culture and natural beauty of Bali. The temples
are absolutely breathtaking! There are pristine beaches, jungles, cascading waterfalls,
volcanoes, some of the best yoga and meditation schools in the world, and so much to explore!
