Ryleigh is a four-year-old Irish Setter with the playful, affectionate, and goofy personality her breed is known for. She’s a perpetual puppy—always chasing balls, squeaking toys, and curling up on the couch with her family at the end of the day.
But behind her joyful spirit, Ryleigh has faced ongoing health challenges.
Her family first noticed unusual spells when she was about two years old. At first, they were mild—her head would make a subtle bobbing motion, though she stayed aware of her surroundings. Over time, the episodes became more intense, sometimes leaving her body stiff and her movements jerky.
Her care routine grew complex. Ryleigh’s family worked closely with their veterinarian and tried different approaches, which at one point meant multiple pills each day. Some treatments even made her a little unsteady on her feet, but she never lost her love for chasing sticks and balls.
Along the way, her dad came across research at Colorado State University exploring hemp compounds for canine wellness. A neighbor who ran a CBD business had mentioned it too. Feeling they had nothing to lose, the family decided to incorporate CBD into Ryleigh’s daily routine.
Her dad recalls feeling hopeful when they noticed the more intense episodes becoming less common, and the mild ones not showing up as often. “We were grateful for the change,” he says. “It gave us peace of mind and more good days together.”
Though Ryleigh still experiences challenges now and then, they are far less frequent than before, and she continues to be full of life and love. She still greets neighbors with a wagging tail, curls up at night beside her family, and dashes after sticks with her trademark Irish Setter joy.
